Three-day gender budgeting training programme at HIPA

Shimla, March 4

The Directorate of Women and Child Development started a three-day Divisional level Training Programme on Gender Budgeting for officers of Shimla, Solan, Sirmour and Kinnaur districts at the H. P. Institute of Public Administration, Fairlawns, Shimla, on the theme ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ here today.

Officials of various departments — including Agriculture, Horticulture, Jal Shakti, Industries, Energy, Information Technology, Education and Transport, HP Kaushal Vikas Nigam — attended the training programme.

The resource person/guest faculty for the programme included HIPA Joint Director (Retd) Rajeev Bansal; HPU Department of Public Administration chairperson Mamta Mokta, and retired Indian Administrative Service officer Purnima Chauhan.

Directorate of Women and Child Development Director Rupali Thakur said gender budgeting was to address various gender-related issues, especially those related to women.

The participants were sensitised to identify such issues, and plan programmes and policies with respect to their departments keeping the gender perspective in mind. The participants were encouraged to create gender budgeting cells in their department as well as gather gender-segregated data to improve their policies and programmes.
