Three detained for injuring villager with gunshot while hunting in Shimla forest
Victim was taking his goats for grazing in Dhamawani forest when the incident occurred
Three persons have been detained for allegedly firing at a man while hunting in forest, seriously injuring him in Rohru of Shimla district.
The accused have been identified as Sahil Sapta, a resident of Ghasani village in Tikkar tehsil of Shimla, Pankaj Sangrel, aka Guddu, and Sukhpal, both residents of Khalgar village also in Tikker tehsil. The victim has been identified as Lucky, a resident of Kadivan village in Tikker tehsil.
Meena Ram, in a written complaint to the police, alleged that someone called him on his phone on Sunday evening and informed him that Lucky, who had taken his goats for grazing in Dhamawani forest, was injured due to a gunshot fired by some persons while hunting. The complainant intercepted the car of the accused when they tried to flee. He also recovered one double-barrel gun and a bag containing cartridges and one empty cartridge.
Injured Lucky was taken to the Civil Hospital, Rohru, where he was referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital, Shimla.
The police, acting upon the complaint, registered a case under Sections 125 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 25 of the Indian Arms Act, 1959, and detained the trio. A police official said that an investigation into the case was underway.
