Three get 10-yr jail for drug peddling

Special judge, Nalagarh, Bariender Thakur, today sentenced three persons to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for peddling 186.190 kg of poppy husk in July 2016.

Deputy District Attorney Sandeep Sharma said Guljar Mohhamed of Jhiriwala village in Nalagarh, Meher Deen of Rohatanwala in Baddi and Shoka Lal of Chittor district in Rajasthan were arrested by the Nalagarh police on July 6, 2016, with 186.190 kg poppy husk on the Nalagarh-Ropar road at Jagatkhana village.

The contraband was hidden in two vehicles — a truck (HP 12D 3133 ) and a car (RJ 09CC 2151) in 11 plastic sacks. A case under Section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against them.
