Three persons, including a schoolteacher from Punjab, died in separate road accidents in the district on Thursday.
Teacher Poonam Bali, a resident of Kalsehra village near the inter-state border in Punjab, was riding a two-wheeler in Meharpur when the driver of a parked vehicle suddenly opened a door towards the roadside.
Poonam’s scooty hit the door and she fell on the road divider and was run over by another vehicle. She died in the Una district hospital. In another incident, Chandpur resident Pradeep Singhs car hit a roadside tree while avoiding stray dogs on a road in Tahliwal. He was declared dead at the Una hospital.
In yet another incident, at the Amb market, Athwan resident Babu Ram died on the spot after his bike was hit by a moving car. SP Rakesh Singh said the bodies had been handed over to the next of kin and separate cases had been registered.
