Three of family in Nahan held under NDPS Act

The Sirmaur Police’s Special Detection Cell has arrested three members of a family for possessing a large quantity of narcotics at their home. The raid was conducted at the house of Prem Chand (71) at Valmiki Nagar in Nahan, which led to the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics and cash amounting to Rs 24 lakh.

During the raid carried out on Sunday night, the police recovered 336 Spasmaxx Tramadol capsules, 159.80 gm charas, 38.10 gm opium and 23.34 gm heroin (chitta).

This operation is particularly noteworthy as three generations of a single family have been apprehended simultaneously for involvement in drug trafficking. The arrested have been identified as Prem Chand, his 44-year-old son Sagar and his 21-year-old grandson Sangram, alias Anshul,

Earlier, the police had nabbed another person from the same locality with a substantial quantity of narcotic substances.

Stressing that the crackdown on drug mafia would continue, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sirmaur, Raman Kumar Meena, said, “We will not tolerate anyone involved in this filthy business.”

Additional SP Yogesh Rolta said, “Strict action will continue against drug traffickers to ensure that those involved in such activities face the consequences.”

The police have registered an FIR at Sadar police station under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
