Shimla, September 7
The local Tibetan community paid homage to the martyred soldier of the Special Frontier Force, Nyima Tenzin here today.
The officer died near Pangong Tso in Ladakh on August 30 reportedly in a landmine blast. Tenzin Loden, a 24-year-old soldier, sustained injuries in the incident.
The martyred officer, a native of Tibetan Settlement, Choglamsar, Ladakh, was cremated today in Ladakh.
Paying homage to the martyr in Shimla, the Tibetan community said his sacrifice for the country will not be forgotten.
While offering their condolence to the family of Nyima Tenzin – he is survived by his wife and three children – the community also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured soldier and his return to his battalion.
“We have lost a brave officer. Tibetans living in exile all over the world have organised special prayers to pay tributes to the departed soul,” said Tsering Dorjee, a Tibetan freedom activist.
