To check crime, CCTV cameras to be installed in Haroli: Deputy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that highways and entry points to the Haroli Assembly segment, particularly those on the inter-state borders with Punjab, would be covered with CCTV cameras at a cost of Rs 2 crore to check the incidents of crime. He was speaking at the annual function of Government Degree College at Beetan village in the Haroli segment.
Agnihotri said that the state government had zero tolerance for drugs and that those involved in its trafficking were being followed up and brought to justice. He added that illegal mining in the Swan river had been controlled and drones had been put into service.
The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the need to strike a balance between the withdrawal of groundwater and its recharge by conserving rainwater and rejuvenating traditional sources. He said that though the state government was making efforts in this direction, success was not possible without public participation.
Agnihotri said that infrastructure development in the areas of academics and sports in the Haroli Assembly segment had been strengthened in all government schools. Prestigious institutions like an Indian Institute of Information Technology had been established here.
He added that three government colleges had been set up in the segment to enable children, particularly girls, to avail of the opportunity of higher education near their homes. He later gave away prizes to students, who had excelled in academics, sports and cultural competitions during the year.
