To mark 50 years of HRTC, road safety campaign at Dharamsala

Under the road safety awareness campaign, an awareness programme was organised at the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Bus Stand in Dharamsala. HRTC Divisional Manager (Dharamsala) Pankaj Chadha was the chief guest on the occasion. HRTC was celebrating its 50th year of establishment and drivers, operators, mechanics and other staff of HRTC, Dharamshala, were honoured with citations and mementos.
Chadha said compliance with traffic rules is extremely important as it plays an important role in saving not only one’s own life, but also the precious lives of others. He called upon drivers of all kinds of vehicles to save precious lives by strictly adhering to road safety rules.
He said 11 per cent of deaths in the country are due to road accidents, out of which almost 99 per cent are due to human error. Additionally, over-speeding is the cause of 65 per cent of road accidents while the use of mobile phone while driving and drunken-driving are also common reasons for road mishaps.
Chadha said the HRTC was celebrating its 50th year of establishment, which is a proud moment for every resident of the state, adding that even after 50 years, the people of the state have maintained faith in HRTC. He said the emotional bond that people share with HRTC today is a matter of pride for every employee associated with HRTC. He said in terms of safety, HRTC drivers have a distinct identity across the country and HRTC feels proud of them.
HRTC Regional Manager Sahil Kumar welcomed the chief guest. HRTC operators made people aware about road safety through folk songs and music.
