Umesh, a student of Government High School, Kanah, has earned a place at the national-level INSPIRE MANAK competition after his science model was chosen among the top five at the state-level competition recently held by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Solan.
His model, which impressed the judges, is a modified version of the English-style toilet flush box, showcasing his scientific thinking and innovative approach to daily household challenges. It was among five selected projects to represent Himachal Pradesh at the national level.
The Director of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, Ashish Kohli, felicitated the winners. School principal Mamata Gupta congratulated the students, parents and Umesh’s guide teacher Bhudev Verma for their invaluable support and guidance. She also encouraged students to adopt a scientific mind-set in everyday life.
The INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) Awards - MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) is a national programme aimed at fostering creativity and scientific thinking among school students. The competition progresses through several levels, beginning with idea submission at the school level and culminating in a national showcase of selected innovations.
