Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan has ordered the temporary suspension of toll collection at Takoli Toll Plaza on NH-21. The decision, issued on August 14 under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act follows days of downpour that damaged the highway, causing landslides and washouts.
With stretches of the highway either non-functional or hazardous, the administration deemed toll collection unfair. The suspension will remain in effect for a month. The move has been welcomed by locals and transporters. Authorities have advised avoiding non-essential travel and are working to restore normalcy, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to disaster response.
