Kullu, March 6
Tourists are having a gala time enjoying various adventure activities and frolicking in snow from the Nehru Kund to the Solang Nala near Manali. Only 4x4 vehicles are allowed beyond the Nehru Kund till the Solang Nala due to accumulation of snow on the road.
The visitors enjoy snow by throwing snowballs at each other and take part in various winter sports activities. Tourists took selfies and uploaded videos on social media.
Manali dons an entirely look after snowfall and the tourists are thrilled to be there and enjoy the beauty of snow-laden hills.
Ravi and Teja, tourism businessmen associated with adventure sports, said tourists enjoyed adventure sports like skiing, paragliding, horse riding, snow scooter, mountain bike, snow tube, etc in the Solang Nala. Ski Himalayas manager Nirmala Kapoor said tourists were reaching Fataru after enjoying ropeway journey.
Abdul and Happy, tourists from Kerala and Punjab, said they enjoyed the scenic beauty of the popular tourist town. Tourists also visit Hidimba Devi Temple apart from enjoying a stroll on the Mall Road. Manali Hotelier Association vice president Roshan Thakur said snow was a major attraction here and the number of tourists increased during weekends.
The Rohtang Pass, the go-to destination for tourists in summer, has accumulated more than 12 feet of snow. Similarly, heaps of snow have been formed in Rani Nala, Marhi, Beas Nala, Rahala Fall and Gulaba. Although snow on the Mall Road has melted, there is abundant snow in the areas above the Nehru Kund.
Manali DSP KD Sharma said additional police personnel had been deployed at tourist places to regulate traffic. He said only 4x4 vehicles were allowed to go to the Solang Nala while other vehicles can go up to Nehru Kund.
