Tourist from Maharashtra burnt alive in Shimla's hotel fire
A tourist from Maharashtra was burnt alive after a hotel he was staying in caught fire on Friday night in Shimla, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Pudale, a resident of Koregaon village in Sangli district, Maharashtra.
According to reports, the deceased, along with his two friends, had reached Shimla and was staying in a BnB in the Kachighatti area of Shimla.
While they were sleeping in their hotel room, a fire broke out.
While his two friends were able to escape, Ritesh was trapped and burnt alive.
Upon noticing the fire, the hotel staff informed the fire department, and fire tenders rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Police also reached the scene as soon as they received the information and recovered the body from the room.
The body was taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College for a post-mortem.
