Tourists flock to snowy Khajjiar, Dalhousie for New Year celebration
Khajjiar, often referred to as Mini Switzerland, and the picturesque resort town of Dalhousie came alive with New Year festivities as hundreds of tourists from neighbouring states arrived to celebrate. The region witnessed a surge in visitors, with recent snowfall transforming the hills into a stunning silver wonderland, captivating everyone with its charm.
Private hotels introduced exclusive New Year packages for couples and families, starting at Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000, offering cozy accommodation, delicious meals, and entertainment. Special events such as live DJ performances, bonfires, and competitions like “Best Couple” and “Best Dancer” added to the festive spirit.
Government-run hotels in Chamba, Dalhousie, and Khajjiar were fully booked, while private accommodations reported up to 90 per cent occupancy. Guests staying at government hotels enjoyed “Chambyali Dham”, a traditional feast showcasing the region’s culinary heritage.
Dalhousie’s Hotel Manimahesh hosted unique contests like “Manimahesh Queen, Prince, and Princess,” making the evening unforgettable for visitors. Varun Dhiman, Area Manager of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation in Chamba, emphasised efforts to ensure a memorable experience for all.
The snowfall, clear skies, and vibrant festivities created the perfect setting for tourists to ring in the New Year amidst the serene beauty of Himachal Pradesh.
