Kullu, December 9

The Lahaul administration will set up an IT cell to register the details of visitors and provide them with garbage bags so that the valley can be kept clean. Lahaul-Spiti DC Pankaj Rai said an online application form would be developed with the assistance of the National Informatics Centre for the next tourist season beginning in April. The details of visitors would be registered at Sissu and they would be provided with a jute garbage bag. They could throw the waste in dumpers to be installed at various locations and keep the bag as a car bin. A nominal fee would be charged for the bag, said the DC. The official said vending activities would not be allowed between the north portal of the Atal Tunnel and Sissu. Vehicles would not be allowed to halt in the area. Washrooms, dustbins and other amenities would be made available at Sissu.
