A section of workers observed a strike, while rallies and demonstrations were held by workers across the state in response to the Bharat bandh call given by trade unions in protest against the policies of the NDA government.
Convener of the joint forum of trade unions Kashmir Thakur, CITU president Vijendra Mehra, INTUC president Hardeep Singh Baba, AITUC president Jagdish Bharadwaj and Himachal Kisan Sabha president and general secretary claimed that the strike was able to address the issues of the workers, employees and farmers.
The leaders said besides 10 central trade unions, 500 kisan unions across the country and other organisations supported Bharat Bandh. The workers in industrial areas of Nalagarh, Parwanoo, Baddi, Barotiwala, Tahliwal, Gagret, Kala Amb and Paonta, anganwadi and mid-day meal workers, as well as employees of several government organisations joined the protests.
Solan: Manufacturing activities in the Parwanoo industrial area were hit today, as the activists of the Central Industrial Trade Union (CITU) and the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) observed a strike against the ‘anti-labourer’ and ‘anti-farmer polices’ of the government.
