The decision follows a request from the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Project Implementation Unit, Mandi. The NHAI project director had approached the Deputy Commissioner, urging the extension of these restrictions ahead of the upcoming tourist season. With the expected increase in tourist traffic to Manali and Lahaul, it is crucial to complete the pending work, including cutting and blasting near the 4-Mile point on the Nerchowk-Pandoh stretch before the summer season.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that these traffic restrictions were necessary for public safety during the cutting and blasting operations, which will be conducted with utmost caution. Authorities have been instructed to ensure that the work is completed within the set timeframe, prioritising safety and security for all road users.
