Dharamsala, July 4
Heavy and frequent traffic jams have paralysed Bhagsunag in upper Dharamsala. Many tourists visiting the area get stuck in long traffic jams on the McLeodganj-Bhagsunag road.
Vehicles parked along the road add to the problem. The locals blame the local administration for its failure to construct a multi-storey parking in Bhagsunag.
Vikas Nehria, a hotelier, while talking to The Tribune, has said there is a provision to park just about 50 vehicles in Bhagsunag. The remaining vehicles get parked along the roads. The construction of a multi-storey parking and completion of the Bhagsunag-Indrunag road will create an alternative road for reaching or exiting the spot.
The parking area in Bhagsunag is forestland. Since there is no tree on the land, the locals are demanding that a multi-storey parking should be constructed on it. However, the permission has not been given by the Forest Department.
The project to connect Bhagsunag with Indrunag has also been pending for more than five years.
