Vehicular movement on the National Highway 707 was disrupted after a landslide occurred 1 km ahead of Sataun, near Hevna, this morning.

The movement of the buses and other vehicles towards Kamrau, Tilordhar, Kaffota, Timbi, Shillai, Ronhat, Chopal and Rohru remained affected throughout the day. The road was not restored to traffic till the filing of this report.

Some motorists who took alternative routes via Vikasnagar-Kaffota and Haripur-Meenus had to take a detour of several kilometres to reach their destinations.

A portion of the highway was damaged after several trees came down along with debris. Parapets on the sides of the road were also swept away. Several portions of the under-construction NH 707 have been identified as landslide-prone zones.

Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution and remain vigilant while travelling in such areas, particularly during the monsoon season.
