Transfers banned to check fall in enrolment in govt schools: Minister

Transfers have been banned during the academic session to check the decline in the enrolment of students in government schools. The genuine demands of primary class teachers will be fulfilled, said Education Minister Rohit Thakur after a meeting with a delegation of the State Teachers Primary Association here today.

The delegation apprised the minister of its demands regarding vacant posts, recruitment of pre-primary Nursery Teacher Trainers (NTT), promotion and pay disparities and restarting sports competitions in schools.

He pointed towards a steady decline in enrolment in governments schools. “The enrolment of students in government schools this year as compared to previous year has gone down by 51,000. It’s to check this decline that we have imposed a complete ban on transfers during the academic session,” he added.

The minister said that the teachers should focus on new teaching techniques and innovation for imparting quality education to students. He added that a teacher’s help was of paramount importance in building discipline, development of logical power and a sense of patriotism among students.
