The police rescued three tourists from Haryana from the Komic-Hikkim road in the Spiti region of Lahaul and Spiti district yesterday. Their vehicle had got stuck on the road because of heavy snowfall in the region.
SP, Lahaul and Spiti, Mayank Chaudhary said that information was received from the District Disaster Management Authority, Keylong, that some tourists and a vehicle were stuck on the Komic-Hikkim road. The Station House Officer, Kaza police station, himself went to the spot along with a team.
“Despite heavy snowfall and limited visibility, our officers navigated the terrain with precision and determination. They located and rescued the trapped tourists from the area. The tourists were taken to Komic village, where they were accommodated in a homestay,” the SP said.
“The rescue team included SHO Chung Ram, head constable Deep Paul, constables Neeraj Kumar, Arun Kumar and Sahil and driver Praveen,” he added.
