Trio conferred with Rakshaveer award

Honoured for helping road accident victims

The Road Safety Cell of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has conferred Rakshaveer Puraskar upon Ravindra Singh Dogra, Ravindra Kumar and Rahul Thakur of Gwaradu village for helping road accident victims.

According to an official communication from the Directorate of Transport, Himachal Pradesh, the Rakshaveer award is part of a government initiative to encourage volunteers, who help the road accident victims by transporting them to hospitals and working to save life and property during such emergencies.

Ravindra Singh Dogra, a social worker from the village, has been actively involved in road safety efforts for the past 10 years. He has been providing timely assistance to accident victims in the Bamsan-Lagwalti and Sujanpur areas. Dogra would often carry the injured and even the bodies of the victims to health facilities.

Dogra and fellow volunteers Ravindra Kumar and Rahul Thakur recently carried the victims of a road accident in the area to Tauni Devi hospital that saved their lives. The continuous selfless service of these youth had also been recognised by the police department and the district administration as well. They were awarded a cash reward of Rs 50,000.
