In a shocking case, the Baga police in Arki sub-division arrested Hemraj (37), a truck driver from Bilaspur, for diverting cement trucks to unauthorised destinations and committing forgery. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the Mangal Land Losers and Effective Transport Cooperative Society Committee.

The complaint stated that truck HP-11C-2625, operated by Hemraj, was assigned to transport cement to various destinations, including Build Buildcon Limited in Bilaspur on September 19, 2024, and Gawar Construction Limited in Malyana on subsequent dates. However, the driver allegedly diverted the cement to Mandi Govindgarh in Punjab and failed to pay for it at the designated locations. As a result, the cement company deducted Rs 4,43,728 from the cooperative society.

Probe revealed that Hemraj sold the cement using the identity of another driver from Jammu and Kashmir. He also submitted forged bills with fake seals and signatures to the society. Further, it was discovered that the driver had sold the cement-laden truck in Mandi Gobindgarh without the owner’s consent.
