Truck union, industry hold meet to resolve differences

In a bid to resolve the differences, SDM Baddi held a meeting today between Nalagarh Truck Operators Union (NTOU) and the industry after a section of truckers created ruckus at an industrial unit on Wednesday.

SDM Baddi Vivek Mahajan stated that law and order should not be taken in hand by anyone as problems arising between the industry and the truckers can be resolved with the intervention of the administration.

The meeting was called after ruckus was created by a section of truckers at Sagar Ispat at Thana village on Wednesday evening where several vehicles were damaged and two people were injured.

“Sagar Ispat was facing problem in securing vehicles for transportation. This problem has been amicably resolved. The problem arose due to communication gap. Both the industry and the truckers have shown their resolve to settle the dispute following which an amicable solution has been worked out,” added Mahajan.

Rajiv Aggarwal, president, Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industries Association, said the truck union should introspect and examine how much more their freight charges were vis-à-vis other states. Their rates should be reasonable so that the industry fulfils its needs from the local truck union itself and is not forced to procure trucks from other states. This will make the industry competitive and will add to their growth as well.

The NTOU denied having a hand in the incident.
