Panic gripped parts of Paonta Sahib subdivision on Thursday after two wild elephants from neighbouring Uttarakhand strayed into Himachal territory. Confirming the development, Paonta Sahib Divisional Forest Officer Ved Prakash Sharma said the elephants were spotted in the Satiwala beat and are under close watch. He appealed to local residents to stay away from the possible movement corridors of the elephants and to promptly report any unusual activity to the department.

Officials cautioned villagers and locals to avoid venturing into the forests. In case of unavoidable circumstances, they have been urged to enter only with extreme caution.
