Two arrested in connection with attempted murder of Mandi dhaba owner
In a breakthrough development in the case of an attempted murder, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack on Pradeep Guleria, a 61-year-old owner of a dhaba in Dayadi village in Mandi district.
The incident occurred on March 21 at the Royal Lass Kitchen near Pulgharat.
The suspects, identified as Mohammad Azmal (25) and his brother Azam (19), both residents of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, were apprehended late on the night of March 24, following a swift investigation by local police.
According to Mandi SP Sakshi Verma, the attack was severe and prompted the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (LR), along with four other investigative teams. Their efforts led to the identification of the two suspects, who had been residing as tenants in the Dangu village, under Balh tehsil in Mandi, for an extended period. Both individuals were employed in Mandi as aluminium fitters.
The SP confirmed that the weapon used in the attack has been recovered from the possession of the arrested individuals.
“The arrested suspects, Mohammad Azmal and Azam, will be presented in court today, and the police have sought their custody for further investigation. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the motive behind the attack”, the SP said.
