Two dead, one injured after vehicle plunges into gorge in Shimla’s Rohru

The accident occurred on Tuesday around 10.45 pm on the Chirgaon-Khabal road near Khabal village, when the driver lost control of the vehicle

Two persons were killed, and one other sustained injuries after a Bolero Camper they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in the Rohru sub-division of Shimla district. The deceased were identified as Rajvant (36), son of Saar Singh and a resident of Denwari village in Rohru, and Vishal Sankhyan (42), son of Bhagat Ram and a resident of Sondari village, Rohru, while the injured was identified as Kamraj, son of Surinder Singh and a resident of Sondari village.

According to the police, the accident occurred on Tuesday around 10.45 pm on the Chirgaon-Khabal road near Khabal village, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle plunged approximately 300 meters below the road, killing two persons on the spot and leaving one seriously injured.

A police team reached the spot as soon as it received the information and rescued the injured, besides recovering the dead bodies, with the assistance of local residents. The injured was immediately rushed to Civil Hospital, Rohru, where they are undergoing treatment. A postmortem examination of the deceased was also conducted there, after which the bodies were handed over to their relatives for cremation.

DSP Rohru, Pranav Chauhan, confirmed the report and said a case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
