Two drug peddlers Upender Verma and Rajeev Kumar were awarded six months in imprisonment and imposed a fine fine of Rs 20,000 each by the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sachin Raghu here today. Assistant Public Prosecutor Vishal Deepak said the peddlers were convicted under section 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

The prosecutor said that on February 20, 2020, about 5.28 grams of heroin was recovered from accused persons which who were travelling in XUV 500 car bearing registration number HP-74A-9400. An FIR No 43/2020 was registered in police station Bhoranj of the district.

The trial in the case was conducted by Rahul Chopra, Deputy District Attorney and Vishal Deepak Assistant Public Prosecutor on behalf of the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Vishal Deepak said that in case of default in payment of the fine, the imprisonment would increase by three months while both the sentences would run concurrently.
