Two get 10-yr in jail in rape cases
The court of Special Judge and District Sessions Judge Jaswant Singh sentenced two convicts to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in two separate rape cases.
Assistant District Attorney Anil Sharma said the first case involved a complaint filed by the victim’s father. In his complaint, he said the accused had taken his daughter to his house and sexually assaulted her. Following this complaint, the police initiated an investigation and registered a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the law.
The prosecution gathered substantial evidence, and the court found the accused guilty based on the testimonies and supporting proof. Consequently, he was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
In the second case, the victim lodged a complaint against another accused, alleging that he had taken her to the forest and raped her. She also said he had threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. Based on her statement, the police registered a case against the accused and began an investigation. The police collected all necessary evidence and recorded statements from multiple witnesses.
During the trial, the prosecution presented a total of 15 witnesses to support the charges against the accused. The court, after thoroughly examining the evidence, found the accused guilty of the crime.
Following the arguments and evaluation of the case, Special Judge and District Sessions Judge Jaswinder Singh convicted the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
