Two held for rape in Hamirpur village

Hamirpur, October 14

Two persons have been arrested for raping a woman in the Tauni Devi area of the district. The accused allegedly raped the 28-year-old woman and clicked some obscene pictures. The duo then allegedly threatened the woman, saying they would make the pictures viral on social media if she told anyone about the incident.

The woman remained silent over the matter for sometime fearing social stigma. However, later she narrated her woes to her mother and then reported the matter to the police.

In her complaint, she alleged that both accused, who lived in her area, had raped and threatened her.

DSP Renu Sharma said a case was registered at women police station here and both accused had been arrested. She said the medical examination of the woman and the accused would be conducted.
