Two occupants of an Alto car (HP 52B 5876) were injured when their vehicle collided with a moving truck while driving on the wrong side of the road near Salogra on the Solan-Shimla highway around 7 am.
The car, which was en route from Solan to Shimla, was supposed to drive on the left side of the road but instead ended up driving on the right side of the double-lane highway.
The car first rammed into a moving truck coming from the opposite direction and then crashed into another truck parked on the side of the road, according to Solan SP Gaurav Singh.
Traffic had to be diverted to the two lanes that were still open, as the other two lanes were closed due to repair work on the highway. The parked truck, which was obstructing traffic, was challaned and later removed.
The driver of the Alto car and a woman passenger were injured and were immediately rushed to the Solan Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
This marks the second accident in the last 10 days at the same spot on the highway.
