Two Mandi youths held with drugs
Were arrested during patrolling and traffic checking by police in Gankheter
The Kangra police today seized “chitta” and charas and arrested two youths hailing from Mandi district.
A special team of the Baijnath police arrested the youths during patrolling and traffic checking near the railway crossing in the Gankheter area.
The police team intercepted a car (HP 01M-5459) for checking. On being stopped, the occupants of the car appeared nervous, prompting the police team to launch a thorough search of the vehicle. The search led to the recovery of 32.20 grams of “chitta” and 286.80 grams of charas concealed in the car. Both accused were immediately taken into custody and the contraband was seized.
The arrested youths have been identified as Karam Singh (25), a resident of Saned village in Padhar tehsil of Mandi district, and Karna (20), a resident of Lakhwan village of Padhar tehsil in Mandi district.
A case was registered against them under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Baijnath police station. SP Ashok Rattan said that a detailed investigation was underway to trace the source of the consignment and its intended destination.
