Two students from the very first batch of MSc Zoology at Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Government College, Palampur, have qualified CSIR-UGC NET exam that was held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in March 2025.

Nitin and Muskan, both from the 4th semester, not only cleared the exam but also earned Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) — a testament to their exceptional dedication and academic brilliance.

Their achievement places the college on national academic map, underlining the institution’s commitment to excellence in higher education.

College Principal Prof Pankaj Sood expressed immense pride in the students’ achievement, commending their perseverance and ambition.

“This achievement reflects the rigorous academic environment and dedicated mentorship that our college fosters,” he said.

Prof Sood also praised the pivotal role of the zoology department faculty, especialy Dr Bovinder Katoch and Dr Anuradha Sharma, whose mentorship was instrumental in guiding the students toward this remarkable feat.

The duo expressed heartfelt gratitude to their teachers, college administration and families.

Both Nitin and Muskan plan to pursue advanced research in zoology at premier institutes across the country.

Dr Bovinder Katoch, head of the zoology department, said, “This is a defining moment for our department and college. The success of our very first batch proves that with the right foundation, students can achieve national-level recognition. It will surely motivate upcoming batches to aim higher.”
