In a tragic road accident late last night, two Nepali nationals lost their lives and two others were injured after a pickup truck carrying apple crates fell into a 100-meter-deep gorge near Khenvi Kainchi in Ani sub-division of Kullu district.
According to the police, Bidu Ram, a resident of Kadarna village, stated that he had loaded his apple produce onto pickup truck (HP95-0776) around 3 pm for transport to Lafughati. The truck, driven by Sanjeev Kumar of Thanadhar, Shimla, was also carrying three Nepali workers: Prakash Oli, Deepak Khadka and Tilak Bahadur.
“Due to heavy rain and dense fog, the driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle, which plunged into a gorge before halting on a lower link road. Prakash Oli and Tilak Bahadur died on the spot, while the driver and Deepak Khadka were injured and rushed to Ani hospital,” the police said “Initial investigations suggest that negligence and overspeeding in poor weather conditions led to the fatal mishap. Police are investigating the case,” he added.
