The Solan police arrested two Punjab men for allegedly attacking their companion with a sword near a dhabha at the new bus stand here last night. According to the Solan SP, brothers Harish Sharma and Vikas, accompanied by their friend Lakhbeer were on their way to Shimla in a car.
Harish, who was sitting in the rear seat, started consuming alcohol, which peeved the other two. They asked him to stop drinking, but he did not heed them. This led to an altercation between the brothers, who are also allegedly involved in a land dispute. In a fit of rage, Vikas allegedly took out a sword from his car and attacked Harish, leaving him injured.
The police rushed to the spot on being informed about the matter and arrested Vikas (38) and Lakhbeer (33), a resident of Khanpur Gandaya in Patiala, for beating up Harish.
SP Solan Gaurav Singh said a case under Sections 115, 126(2), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing hurt, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation as well as under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act had been registered by and a probe was under way. “The state government should take steps to deter the tourists from carrying weapons as it brings disrepute to the state,” said Ravi, a local.
