Una SDM booked for rape on pretext of marrying victim

On the basis of her statement, a case has been registered against Chauhan under Sections 69 and 351 (2) of the BNS, according to a press note issued by Una SP Amit Yadav.
The complainant, who is not a minor, stated in her complaint that she was studying Masters in Pharmacy and was also a national-level taekwondo player. She claimed that she came in contact with Vishva Dev Chauhan through social media and the latter invited her at least twice or thrice to his office for the promotion of sports.
The complainant said that on August 10, she reached the SDM’s office at 3.30 pm and they began to interact. The SDM told her that he wanted to show her his personal office, chamber and courtroom. The complainant alleged that when they entered the SDM’s personal cabin, he said that he was unmarried and wanted to marry her. On that pretext, despite her unwillingness, he raped her, she alleged.
As per the FIR, the woman stated that on August 20, the SDM sent her a WhatsApp message asking her to reach the Una rest house and introduce herself there as Assistant Professor Sneha from Solan and she would be given a room. She added that she reached the rest house around 7.30 pm and the SDM arrived at 10 pm. Chauhan threatened her by showing her a video of the August 10 incident, she alleged.
The woman stated that she was shocked to know that the SDM had recorded the 10 August incident at his office and was threatening her. She alleged that the SDM again raped her at the rest house on August 20. She added that she repeatedly pleaded with him to delete the recorded video clip, but to no avail.
On August 27, the complainant said that she went to the official residence of the SDM but the latter pushed her out. On August 28, she filed an online complaint against the SDM at the National Commission for Women, after which he began pressuring her to take it back.
The woman stated that on September 17, she noticed an Audi car bearing Haryana registration number following her, which she had often seen in the possession of the SDM and she felt frightened.
The Una SP said that a complaint of criminal intimidation and sexual intercourse through deceitful means had been received against an administrative officer and a case had been registered against him. He added that the police were on the lookout for the accused.
