Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today formally commissioned the working of a new digital X-ray machine and an ultrasound machine at the Haroli Civil Hospital. A sum of Rs 50 lakh has been spent on the diagnostic machinery.

Speaking on the occasion, Agnihotri said the state government is working towards strengthening the health infrastructure in the state to provide better healthcare facilities to the residents of rural and far-flung areas. He called upon the doctors to opt for working in rural areas in the interest of humanity and to serve the under privileged people. He said it’s a challenge for the government to provide good healthcare facilities in rural areas because doctors are unwilling to serve here.

Agnihotri said the Cabinet approval for upgrading Haroli civil hospital from 50 to 100 beds has been accorded recently and his efforts are now directed towards deploying at least 13 doctors of different specialities here. He said additional building for the hospital will also be constructed to accommodate medical equipment, beds for patients and space for paramedics and doctor’s clinics, adding that a sum of Rs 8.5 lakhs has recently been sanctioned for the construction of an additional civil structure here.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjeev Kumar Verma, Medical Superintendent Dr Sanjay Mankotia and Haroli Block Medical Officer Dr Pushpinder Singh Rana were also present on the occasion.
