The construction of an underground parking, which is underway at the existing parking lot near Monal Cafe at Dhalpur here, will be completed before Dasehra. Around 70 vehicles can be parked here and the strength will be doubled after the completion of the underground parking.
Tarun Vimal, councillor of Dhalpur, said it would be the first parking with a boom barrier in the district. Cameras would be installed to ensure the safety of vehicles. The parking lot would cost Rs 2.31 crore.
Tarun said there would be no tampering with the existing layout of the area as the procession of deity Narsingh passes through the area during the Dasehra festival and various cultural activities are also carried out.
Kullu MC vice-president Gopal Krishan Mahant said the work was underway on several schemes in the city. He said the parking problem aggravates during Dasehra, Pipal Jatra and other events at Dhalpur. The work on parking would be completed before the Dasehra festival.
He added that parking lots would also be constructed at other places in the town. The MC was making every effort to resolve the problems of residents.
