The Kangra police recovered the body of an unidentified man from the banks of the Beas near Kangehan village under Lambagaon police station. Officials said the body, which appeared to have been trapped between rocks, surfaced after the river’s water level receded following the monsoon withdrawal.

Villagers first noticed the body while grazing cattle and alerted panchayat head Kusum Lata, who informed the police. A team led by SHO Kuldeep Singh reached the spot and shifted the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Tanda, for post-mortem. The body will remain in the mortuary for 72 hours to facilitate identification. The police have sounded an alert in upstream districts of Kullu and Mandi, requesting families of missing persons to assist in tracing the deceased. Authorities are awaiting the autopsy report for investigation.
