Union Minister lauds Palampur institute for boosting bio-economy
Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, was the chief guest of the EMBO International Workshop and Industry, Farmer and Academia meet organised by the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bio-resource Technology, Palampur, today. He virtually addressed the workshop.
In his presidential address, the minister lauded the efforts of the institute towards boosting the bio-economy of the Himalayan region through scientific interventions and nurturing young minds. He was happy to note that the institute was supporting start-ups and incubates and expressed happiness over the success of the floriculture and aroma mission and the Poshan Maitri Abhiyan.
He highlighted various missions initiated by the Centre to empower people. He put forth the coupling of states and extended one week one theme celebrations. He exhorted the gathering to come together and work for a Viksit Bharat.
Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director, CSIR-IHBT, extended a warm welcome to the minister. Earlier, the minister declared open the Tulip garden for the public. He also inaugurated the Autonomous Green House, Heeng Seed Production facility, Heeng QPM facility, Ornamental bulb production facility and the Phyo-analytical facility in the institute. He laid the foundation stone of a phytofactory facility. He also inaugurated an exhibition showcasing products and initiatives based on the institute’s technologies and know how. There were stalls set up by incubates, startups and farmer societies.
