Universal IDs for disabled

Process of making Universal Identification Cards for persons with disabilities has begun in Una district and till date, 1,079 cards have been processed. Disclosing this, Additional Deputy Commissioner Arindam Chaudhary today said that 3,365 persons had applied for the cards.
The ADC, who was presiding over a district level review meeting with departmental officers, said the old identity cards, in possession of the people with disabilities will not be valid now.
Chaudhary said camps that have the facility of medical examination, uploading documents and making ID cards are being held at various health institutions in the district to enable people to process the identification cards near their homes. He said the next four such camps will be held on December 21 at Civil Hospital Amb, on December 28 at Regional Hospital Una, on January 4 at Civil Hospital Haroli and on January 24 at Community Health Centre, Thanakalan. — OC
