University student arrested with heroin in Solan village
Was selling drugs to students of educational institutes
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Solan police arrested a BBA student of a local university along with 7.39 grams of heroin from his rented accommodation at Oachghat village in the district last evening.
The arrested student is a second year student of BBA. He was arrested on a tip-off that he was selling the contraband to the students of various educational institutes and was operating from his rented accommodation at Oachghat near the university.
Since there are several educational institutes around Oachghat, which has become a hub of student hostels, drug traffickers target the area for selling the contraband, especially heroin.
The police are probing the criminal antecedents of the 22-year-old youth. He was booked under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and produced before a local court, said SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh.
The SP said that his urine samples had been sent for analysis to ascertain whether he was also a drug consumer though he was not found in the state of intoxication when arrested.
