The power supply in the Kasauli area has become very unpredictable as unscheduled cuts of 10 to 15 minutes are being imposed several times in a day. The situation is especially irksome in the mornings. Despite day-long power cuts by the power department several times in a month, it seems the system has failed to work properly. The field staff not only fail to admit that there are unscheduled power cuts, little is being done to improve the situation. The common man is left to bear the worsening power situation. — Sashi, Kasauli

Traffic jam a routine affair in Totu

Traffic jam has become a routine affair in the Tutu area in the suburbs of the state capital Shimla, especially during morning and evening hours. The worst hit is the Tutu-Vijaynagar road. Schoolstudents and office-goers stuck in the traffic jam on Thursday morning were a harassed lot as they got late for their respective destinations. Long queues of vehicles were seen on the road as construction material scattered on the road and vehicles parked on both sides proved to be a huge bottleneck. The police should take action against those parking their vehicles and dumping construction material on the road. — Garima, Shimla
