Unspent funds to be used for development, job creation

The government has decided to utilise unspent funds of over Rs 12,000 crore lying with various departments on development works and creating employment avenues.

The Cabinet, at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, decided to set up a committee, headed by a minister, in every district to ensure time-bound utilisation of the unspent money. The maximum amount is lying with the PWD, irrigation, rural development and panchayati raj and pollution control departments.

The Cabinet approved the concept of a portal for registration of those people who have come to the state and are in need of either a job or upgrade of their skills. It was decided that the scheme for loans for working capital requirements with interest subvention for the tourism sector be prepared by the Tourism Department.

The Cabinet also decided to set up a committee under the chairmanship of Industries Minister to discuss the issue of likely shortage of labour in different sectors.

The Cabinet also decided to set up a committee to evaluate how CSR funding could be leveraged for development of the state.

It decided to regularize the services of all those part-time water carriers in the Education Department who have completed 13 years of combined services, which includes five years as daily wage earner and eight years as part-time water carrier.

The Cabinet decided to allow the Education Department to procure and supply school uniforms through the HP State Civil Supplies Corporation under ‘Atal School Vardi Yojna’ for 2019-20 for the students of Class I to XII. This will benefit about 8.31 lakh students of the state.
