UP man held for minor’s rape in Shimla

A Uttar Pradesh resident has been arrested for allegedly raping a Class IX student in Shimla. The accused was identified as Kapil Kumar, resident of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the complaint filed by the parents of the girl, the accused, who worked in a salon near their house, lured their daughter and took her with him after which he raped her.

They alleged that on November 5, their daughter did not return home after which they started searching for her. However, on November 6, they found their daughter in Vikasnagar. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the accused. Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the report and said further investigation was underway.
