Vacations extended in Pangi college
Chamba, February 5
In view of recent spells of snowfall, the local administration in Pangi has extended vacations in Government Degree College, Pangi, till February 11. Colleges in the rest of the state reopened on Monday after monthlong winter vacations.
Order to this effect have been issued by Pangi Resident Commissioner Ritika Jindal. Pangi along with other parts of Chamba district has experienced heavy snowfall in the last one week.
The order by the Resident Commissioner states that due to snowfall the inter-valley roads are closed and incidents of frequent avalanches being reported. Under such circumstances, the movement of staff and students is not safe and is required to be restricted.
It is being felt that it would be in the interest of students’ safely that winter vacations shall remain extended up to February 11, 2024, it added.
Pangi remains cut off from the rest of the state in winters while the interiors of the valley remain under thick cover of snow.
