Solan, November 25
Ashutosh Vaidya was unanimously elected the president of the district BJP in Solan today. He is the state executive committee member of the BJP.
Election in-charge Sukh Ram Chaudhary said the district president was elected unanimously. Five mandal presidents, who were elected recently, and former district BJP president KL Thakur were also present at the poll meeting along with Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Rajiv Saizal and party in-charge of Solan district Ganesh Dutt.
With the party insisting on unanimity, the hopes of the former president to secure the second term could not succeed. Since he had secured the highest lead in the Lok Sabha polls from the Nalagarh constituency, he was hopeful that he would be re-considered to handle the responsibility.
Senior leaders of the party organisation as well as the Chief Minister also supported Vaidya.
He has handled various responsibilities in the organisation and was also the executive member of the ABVP. He has more than 20 years of experience in politics and hails from Nalagarh. He also worked as the vice-president of the BJYM. He has also remained a member of the State Working Committee of the BJP twice.
