Shoolini University registrar conferred with honorary fellowship

Prof Sunil Puri, Registrar and Dean Faculty of Science, Shoolini University, has been conferred with honorary fellowship of the Punjab Academy of Sciences.
The prestigious honour was presented to him at the valedictory function of the 27th Punjab Science Congress held at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab, recently.
The honorary fellowship of the Punjab Academy of Sciences recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to science and academia. Prof Puri has published 189 papers and authored 13 books. His work encompasses diverse topics such as stress physiology, land use systems, climate impacts, agroforestry, biofuel and energy conservation.
Prof Puri’s initiatives in education, including the introduction of innovative programmes at Shoolini University and the establishment of the MSc Agroforestry programme at Haryana Agricultural University, have significantly enriched his academic landscape.
His work on biomass production, carbon storage and species selection under agroforestry practices has practical implications for mitigating climate change and enhancing ecosystem resilience.
Prof Sunil Puri said, “I feel deeply honoured by the recognition from the Punjab Academy of Sciences. Whatever I have accomplished is all because of Shoolini University, and particularly our Chancellor Prof PK Khosla, whose mentorship has been invaluable. I am truly humbled to follow in his footsteps.”
The Punjab Academy of Sciences has awarded its honorary fellowship to 100 eminent scientists from both India and abroad, who have made substantial contributions to advancing innovation in the fields of Science and Technology.
