Varsity student fires into air in Solan

A youth from Bihar fired several shots into the air after snatching a pistol from the father of a fellow student near hotel Dream Villa at Oachghat in Solan district this afternoon and fled.

Trouble started when Aditya Kumar, a BBA first-year student of Shoolini University, had an altercation with his senior at his rented accommodation last night. Following this, Aditya’s father Rajballi Shah along with other family members came to Solan to resolve the dispute. They submitted a complaint to the university management, which directed both factions to come at 2 pm today to amicably resolve the dispute.

According to SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh, when Aditya’s family was near hotel Dream Villa at Oachghat, Dharam Raj, a student belonging to the other faction, snatched Rajballi Shah's pistol and fired several shots into the air before fleeing. No one was injured in the incident. Other youths present there prevailed upon him before he could indulge in further misadventure.

The police later arrested Dharam Raj, aka Dharma (21), a resident of Samastipur in Bihar. He was booked under Section 304 and 109 of the BNS on the charge of snatching and attempt to murder and Section 25 of the Arms Act, said Gaurav Singh. The police had also seized the pistol used in the incident. Meanwhile, a video of the incident went viral on social media within no time, creating tension in the area.
