Veergatha project: Six children from Himachal Pradesh make it to ‘Super 100’
Six children from the state have made it to the ‘Super 100’ in Project Veergatha 4.0, launched under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of Education (MoE).
These students are Harshita, Government Primary School, Thamari, (Mandi), Ojas, Government Senior Secondary School, Sarog, (Shimla), Rohin, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Shimla, Vanshil Chauhan, Dayanand Public School, Shimla, Akshita, Angel Public School, Sundernagar (Mandi), and Shubham Omta, St. Luke’s Senior Secondary School, Solan. The ‘Super 100’ children will be honoured by the Ministry of Defence and Education.
Project Veeragatha was launched in 2021 with the aim of disseminating information about the heroic deeds of gallantry award winners and the heroic stories of freedom fighters among the students to inculcate a sense of patriotism in them. The project provides a platform to the students to do creative projects and activities based on gallantry award winners. Students share information about the lives of these heroes through various mediums like art, poetry, essays and multimedia.
Project Veeragatha 4.0 was launched on September 5 last year, under which children submitted their entries online. Students highlighted the heroic deeds of the war heroes and freedom fighters through medium like poems, paragraph writing, painting and multimedia presentations.
Four categories were formed for this competition. The first category was of students from Class III to V, the second was from Class VI to VIII, the third from Class IX to X and the fourth from class XI to XII. Around 1.70 lakh children participated in the event in the state. After the district-level evaluation, 3,543 students were selected for the state level.
A committee constituted by the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha at the state level conducted the evaluation and gave 40 students the opportunity to participate at the national level, out of which six students made it to the ‘Super 100’ picked from all over the country.
While congratulating the six students for their performance, Rajesh Sharma, Director, Samagra Shiksha, said the Veergatha Project was helping in awakening the spirit of patriotism in children. “As per the guidelines of the government, Samagra Shiksha is constantly making efforts to increase the quality of education and the all-round development of school children,” said Sharma.
