Shimla, November 27
Verka milk has become dearer by Rs 2 per litre from today. The price of 500 ml pack has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 26 and per litre price from Rs 50 to 52.
This is the second increase within five months and the rate of the milk was increased from Rs 48 to Rs 50 in June.
The increase is not in the interest of consumers as the hike by government-controlled federations will force other milk producers to increase the prices, said Rattan Lal, a consumer.
However, the producers are also not happy with the hike and demanding that the procurement price of milk should also be increased proportionately following rising prices of cattle feed and various inputs.
